The expansion of PepsiCo's production site in Veurne had one central aim: to create a visually sleek and coherent whole between the new office building and the parking tower. DUCO played a crucial role in this.
Architectural Unity at the PepsiCo Site in Veurne

When expanding the PepsiCo production site in Veurne, one goal was paramount: creating a visually sleek and coherent whole between the new office building and the parking tower. With this aim in mind, the choice fell on DUCO products: the DucoGrille Solid M30Z P2 and the DucoSun Cubic 150. Both solutions seamlessly meet the functional and aesthetic requirements of the project.
DucoGrille Solid M30Z: Sleek Design, Clever Ventilation
For the building's windows, the DucoGrille Solid M30Z P2 was chosen – a robust, aluminium window louvre with distinctive Z-shaped blades. These blades not only create a visually sleek façade appearance but also offer practical added value: thanks to their perforated design, they serve as effective insect screening.
Although the window louvres are primarily aesthetically integrated into the façade, they also fulfil a functional role during the summer months. During high outdoor temperatures, they are used for night cooling – though their use remains limited due to noise disturbance from the busy road surrounding the site. Nevertheless, they remain an important component in the pursuit of a healthy and comfortable indoor climate, without compromising architectural coherence.
DucoSun Cubic: Solar Shading as an Architectural Statement
Above the entrance hall of the building the DucoSun Cubic 150 is integrated - a fixed solar shading solution installed horizontally. The rectangular louvre blades with a 0° inclination angle provide a modern, cubist appearance and reinforce the sleek lines of the façade.
The choice for these fixed louvre blades was based on both aesthetic and functional considerations: the louvre blades effectively block the sun whilst bringing architectural added value to the front façade. When closed, the blades align perfectly with the façade surface, ensuring a sleek and uniform look – an essential aspect within the total concept of the building.
A Coherent Vision for Corporate Architecture
According to Bert Pieters, Project Engineering Manager at PepsiCo, architectural coherence played a decisive role in choosing DUCO.
PepsiCo sees this investment not as an endpoint, but as the beginning of a broader vision. "For further upgrades to our production site, we'll be able to continue this approach," Pieters states. Even the lighting of the parking tower was carefully aligned with the overall image: stylish and understated, yet striking – more of an eye-catcher than a dull parking structure.
Aesthetics and Functionality in Perfect Balance
By choosing DUCO products, PepsiCo demonstrates how industrial buildings can be more than merely functional structures. Through thoughtful product selections – where both design and function are central – the company succeeds in creating a professional, contemporary appearance that fits perfectly within the surroundings.
The DucoGrille Solid M30Z and DucoSun Cubic 150 each contribute in their own way to smart, aesthetic and future-oriented architecture – completely in line with PepsiCo's vision for their production site in Veurne.
